About

Lois Shumway

I am an artist living in the Briargate area of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

My artwork is inspired by places that I have lived, Virginia and Colorado, and also by places around the world. As I travel, I am inspired by God’s artistic hand in creation. In my own small way, I use that inspiration and my own photography to create detailed watercolor paintings.

Teaching is also my passion! I love helping children to develop their artistic skills through sharing my enthusiasm and knowledge of various medias.

“Mrs. Shumway is always passionate about art and her work with students. She taught both of my daughters, and she is, to this day, their favorite art teacher. As my daughters don’t always agree with one another, it means something wonderful.”

— Addie (Fairfax, VA)

"Our 7 year old really enjoyed the neighborhood art class with Miss Lois. The lessons were creative and engaging. Our daughter loved telling us about her creations and the feedback Lois gave her. She helped encourage and inspire her!  We look forward to more classes in the future!"
